In nearly every other development application that I use if I am using a find and replace I expect to be able to use certain keyboard shortcuts.

Open Microsoft Word for Example and Press CTRL+H. Notice the buttons across the bottom of the screen?  Notice the keyboard shortcuts assigned to those buttons?

Now, do the same in SQL Server Management Studio - The dialog looks different, but notice that the hotkeys are the same and if you hover over each button, the control tip text indicates the keyboard shortcut for each option.

They are:

  • Replace - ALT+r
  • Replace All - ALT+a
  • Find - ALT+f  (Or F3)
  • Use Regular Expressions - ALT+e

It's time to bring these same features to the Toad Search and replace.  It would also be appreciated if we could have the CTRL+H keyboard shortcut ALSO map by default to the find and replace dialog just like CTRL+F does currently (I realize that find and replace are the same thing in Toad).

If I had to choose only one change from the list above it would be to make the ALT+a (replace all) shortcut work.

Thanks for considering this feature request.

Steps to reproduce:

Create a code template that includes fillable variables.

Add the code template the editor window.

Fill in the first variable and press tab to move to the next variable.

EXPECTED: It should move to the next variable.

ACTUAL: All fields are disabled, cannot use code templates anymore.  Must revert to Toad 6.7

Here is an actual snippet that you may use:

Hello,

Using Windows 10 and 6.8.0301 (64 Bit).

  • If I try to save a SQL file using CTRL-S or the save icon,
  • then provide a name
  • and then click on the Save button in the windows explorer window.  The Save button in windows explorer does not work.

Pressing enter saves the file with the provided name.  Pressing cancel does cancel the save.

Thanks,

Howdy,

All of our SQL Server installations are to support 3rd party (purchased) software.  Every vendor has their own implementation, so when I need to copy logins from one server to another (e.g. Prod to Test, or vice versa), it's a pain.  If the vendor doesn't use/support Domain logins, I may or may not have access to the login's password.

I've been using a script similar to the one described at http://www.sqlservercentral.com/blogs/sqlstudies/2013/03/25/how-do-i-move-a-sql-login-from-one-server-to-another-without-the-password/

It would be nice if Toad could have an option to generate the hash on a login, specifically for copying to another server.

Thanks!
Rich

When I try to use the import wizard (Toad Beta 6.8.0.57 64 bit) to import an Excel file to a new table I get a "Please enter password" dialog. I can open the file with Excel no problems as it is not password protected or even open on my PC.

I click OK without entering a password (because the file is not password protected) and I get this:

So I tried importing the same Excel file with Toad 6.7.0.176 and I get this screen without the "Please enter password" dialog box:

So I had to save as the Excel file to CSV and it then imported just fine.

Hi,

After restoring a database from file, the database list in the Object Explorer view is not refreshed. We have to force the refresh (F5) to see the new database. This is happening with build 6.8.0.24.

This happens when executing the restore statement via an editor window. It does not happen when using the restore wizard.
