I've used Toad for MySQL for over 10 years. I have a love hate relationship with it, it often gets released with broken features, but it's free, so what can you do?
I've recently switched jobs and am now in a .NET / SQL Server shop. So I decided to try out Toad for SQL Server. It seems that it's missing features that are in the freeware MySQL version. For example:
I've tried both the trial and freeware versions of SQL Server and both have these issues. Exporting is one of the features I use more than anything. Are the trials/freeware versions crippled? I know you have three tiers of pricing for the SQL server version, but this is such a basic function that I'm surprised it's not in the the Trial at least.
I'm pretty sure I only need the Professional Version, at least I don't need data compare and just need the features in the MySQL freeware version. If you've crippled the trial and freeware below the first tier on your pricing, how can I justify the $655 cost for the Professional Version to my new boss?
These have been old issues, I never reported them, but today somehow it seems more annoying than usual.
1. I navigated to Options->Editor Formatter->Custom tab.
2. Issue #1. Expanding nodes does not refresh the tree (I am using windows 2008 r2). To get the node refreshed I have to click again on the tree node and then its child nodes appear.
3. Issue #2. There is no scrollbar in the formatter options tree. The Options dialog itself is not resizeable. If I expand too many nodes I cannot really get to the bottom nodes.
4. Issue #3. The keyboard up/down keys don't work on the formatter options tree. I have to use the mouse to navigate to the option I want.
5. Issue #4. I click on the formatter options tree (the mouse cursor is above the tree). When I try to use the mouse wheel it scrolls the editor behind the Options dialog and not the formatter options tree.
Please fix these issues.
I have this problem since the last version of the software. When I use "Schema Compare" and generated the script I get the following error on execution:
SQL Server Database Error: 'CREATE/ALTER PROCEDURE' debe ser la primera instrucción en un lote de consultas.
The first lines of script generated are:
/* Script created at 20/06/2016 9:15. Please back up your database before running this script.

Could you help me? Thanks in advance.
Hello Guys, I am new for this Toad for Sql Server. I have a database which contains specific links to each records. Each record have different links adding a different parameters to that link. Record contains more than 1000 records. When I export them with a Sql Query to excel using export wizard those links does not have hyperlink. How can I generate an export which even have hyperlinks to each and every links given in that export data.
Thanks in advance.
We have a substantial amount of work on a database project that is managed within SQL Server Data Tools (under VS2015), and stored in TFS. When I look to see how TOAD can use TFS, it appears to start from the standpoint of the database, leaving our changeset history orphaned if we switch over to TOAD.
I am a TOAD newbie, so I realize I am not speaking the right language, but I would appreciate any pointers on how to accomplish this. Is there a way to have TOAD side-by-side with VS2015, so that both can reference the same TFS objects, or am I looking at a cut-over project?
Thank you, Kevin
I have two SQL statements (insert and select). I am trying to execute those two statements at the same time. When I click F5 it works fine but when I click F9 it gives me an error saying that command is not properly ended. I do this pretty often in SQL server and I am new to TOAD. It works fine in SQL server when you execute multiple statements. Aren't we supposed to execute multiple statements in Oracle TOAD? Can you please help me on this.
I'm using trial version of Toad for Sql Server ver. 126.96.36.1993. What I want is to disable the insertion of "dbo.objectname" when auto complete suggests things.
I've already disabled the Editor - Code completion --> Insert default schema name checkbox, but Toad still gives me the suggestions with the .dbo prefix, and for me it's redundant (call me puristic).
Thanks in advance !
I've used Toad for Oracle more than 6 years ago and forget, how to create code snippets.
Now I want to create snippet in Toad for SQL Server:
from | with(nolock)
I want to force snippet to place cursor after from statement - I tried to use "|" for it, but it doesn't work, as expected - after code snippet was placed in editor, result is same, as in Code Snippet Editor and cursor was not placed to position of "|":
I use Toad for SQL Server 188.8.131.52.
I remembered, that in old time I was able to add cursor position and parameters in code snippets.
How to correctly define cursor position and parameters in this new version (for me) of Toad?
Hello...I'm using Toad for Sql Server, version 184.108.40.20682.
I have over half a million rows I need to provide to another work group who will upload the data in an entirely different and disconnected system so they can run some tests on it. I'm hoping there's a way to download my data to a file I can FTP to them. The Export feature only lets me export about 70k rows. I haven't found a way, if there is one, of increasing that capacity.
Thank you for considering my question.
I have came across a strange bug.
Here is the context.
I have a query editor open and I ran a query select * from Table1. The data is displayed in the grid.
In the object explorer window I selected a table, let's call it Table2, I right-clicked and I selected View Details to display the Object Details window and to look at the Table2 data. Eventually it is displayed, I clicked on the Data tab, I see the data, I right-clicked inside the grid and I selected Quick Export -> File ->Excel File. When I opened the spreadsheet I noticed that Toad exported the data from Table1 instead of the data from Table2 which is displayed in Object Details!!
Could you please look into this and fix it?
I'm new to Toad, and I'm still trying to determine if I can configure it to generally conform to my work preferences. I don't frequently use drag-and-drop functionality like the Diagrammer, but occasionally I do. By default, the tool seems to pull in all tables referenced by foreign keys, which I don't want. I understand how to alter the reference level setting for the diagrammer to stop this behavior, but is there a way to set the ReferenceLevel to 0 by default? I've poked around in the options menus, but can't seem to locate it.
Thanks for any assistance or hints more experienced Toad users can offer!
I am looking for a tool that i can manage my SQL Server easily.
I can see that there is 2 tools that look the same:
1) Toad for Data Point
2)Toad for SQL Server
What are you reccomnded?
And what are the diffrences between Toad Data Point and Toad for SQL Server?
thanks in advance
It has been a while since the last one was released...
