How is calculated the buffer cache hit ratio showed on Spotlight on Oracle? It doesn't match the value calculated from v$sysstat: 1 - (('physical reads cache') / ('consistent gets from cache' + 'db block gets from cache'))
On the main dashboard for Spotlight on Oracle RAC there is a Section for Redo Logs, and under it Redo Writes with IO/Sec.
Recently my application performance went way down and the circular arrows were flashing red with high numbers. However, the number of Redo Log Switches in my Database Alert was normal (3-5 per hour). So, what does Redo Writes IO/sec on Spotlight really mean?
Per the AWR, Wait Time for Commit (log_file_sync) was very high.Had a very large shrink table operation in progress at the time, but even when I killed the session, performance did not improve.
I have installed spotlight on oracle and it's working but
database was down but spotlight didn't detect that, it show only that cpu was 100%
please help me why happen this?
Mine config:Spotlight version is 10.2.1.1504 x64Oracle client (used for Spotlight) was 22.214.171.124 x64Client OS is Windows 7 x64 SP1 Monitored database was Oracle 126.96.36.199 x64 on AIX
Once while presenting Spotlight capabilities during one of mine Toad hotest features, I have situation that Spotlight shows pretty long time buffer busy wait alram.
The bb wait situation lasts for 3-5 minutes and then I decide to took a picture, which is here as live example.
Once again, before this picture was taken BB wait shows red alarm (99%-100% values), and here, when the picture was taken was blue level.
Then I took ASH from the same period to show to users that Spotlight can replace ASH reports. But ... but in generated html report (from the 3 minutes before and after monitored Spotlight pic) there was no sign of mentioned buffer busy wait event at all. I cannot place html report here ( do not know how and do not want to compromise client data!) but please let me get someone mail to send ... not a problem.
I was then asked why is Spotlight showing this (quite often by their words wait event) and this state/problem is not reflected in ASH (which I belieive more, sorry to say that).
So please understand that this may be obvious to you people but not to me and not to mine client, who is waiting for an straight answer-what is underneath of that Spotlight message and how to inter-prate in the future.
THX in advance
Recently installed TOAD 188.8.131.52 and Spotlight 10.3.0.1632. Total Parse Wait Time Ratio Alarm constantly fires [yellow and sometimes red] 10.7 % wait over 30 sec. There is a Library Cache Miss Rate alarm on Shared Pool Used as well [aqua color].
Vendor reviewed Spotlight data and says "there isn't actually a problem. TOAD is complaining because the axiUm application is sending a lot of "literals" to the database, and those literals have to be parsed (hence, high level of parsing). And that's true, we are, because that's just the way the application is written."
Vendor requires CURSOR_SHARING must be set to 'EXACT'. SESSION_CACHED_CURSORS currently set to default 50, OPEN_CURSORS set to 900 per vendor recommendation. Shared Pool size is 1.7 Gb 73% used on average.
Is it possible to tune this situation?
I have Oracle SE, 11R2.could I have clear answer - if using Spotlight is related with any risk of not passing Oracle Audit ?
Does Spotlight eg. shows warn messages if I would click any option related to AWR ?Could options related to paid Oracle features be disabled ?
I'm fond of launching spotlight from Toad for Oracle under monitor session browser. The first 2 database connections worked perfectly. The second and third give me this error.
The Spotlight User Wizard has encountered an error. An error was reported for table "CreateATPkgBody" in connection "DRSD0.USPS.GOV".
The error is:
ORA-24344: success with compilation error2658/10 PLS-00201: identifier 'DBMS_JOB.SUBMIT' must be declared2658/10 PL/SQL: Statement ignored in table createATPkgBody
Any ideas on how to get around this? It doesn't make sense that it works in some and not others. The databases are installed the same and they are the same version.
How do you disable or uninstall the prdictive diagnostics ?? We are approaching our busiest part of our business year , i.e. Thanksgiving through New Years. We need to be able to get the most efficiency from our database servers and we experience high loads at times whenever the predictive diagnostics are collecting data. Is there an easy way to do this or do we have to uninstall the predict diag altogether ? And if so what do I remove ?
I am new to Spotlight and I noticed while I have it running my CPU on my database goes up and I can tell it is all coming from my spotlight connection and from this SQL statement. Any help will be great. I am running Enterprise 184.108.40.206 on Windows Server 2008r2 64bit.
