These people make Toad for MySQL great and have the most points for this month!
In a previous version of toad I could just push F9 from the editor window to run the statement where my cursor was. For example - | shows where the cursor is.
Select * from table1;
Select * from ta|ble 2; <-- the cursor is here but the statement isn't highlighted. Pushing F9 would execute this statement.
Select * from table 3;
My company have updated the version ro 10.1.1.8 and now if I try this it doesn't work - it only works if I highlight the statement.
Is there a setting or option I can set to make this work like it used to? It's a pain having to highlight the whole statement when some are many lines long.
THere has been some time since I last time connected to my few MySQL DBs via Toad, and today when I tried to connect I got the following error:
System.Xml.XmlException'', hexadecimal value 0x03, is an invalid character. Line 1, position 1.Stack Trace: at System.Xml.XmlTextReaderImpl.Throw(Exception e) at System.Xml.XmlTextReaderImpl.Throw(String res, String args) at System.Xml.XmlTextReaderImpl.ThrowInvalidChar(Char data, Int32 length, Int32 invCharPos) at System.Xml.XmlTextReaderImpl.ParseRootLevelWhitespace() at System.Xml.XmlTextReaderImpl.ParseDocumentContent() at System.Xml.XmlTextReaderImpl.Read() at System.Xml.XmlTextReader.Read() at System.Xml.XmlReader.MoveToContent() at System.Data.DataSet.ReadXml(XmlReader reader, Boolean denyResolving) at System.Data.DataSet.ReadXml(String fileName) at Quest.PersistentCache.DataEngine.LoadDataSet() at Quest.PersistentCache.DataEngine.Contains(DimensionTypes dimensionType) at Quest.PersistentCache.PersistentCache.Contains(DimensionTypes type) at Quest.Toad.DatabaseBrowser.ObjectPaletteControl.SetObjectNodeImage(TreeListNode node, ITrl trl) at Quest.Toad.DatabaseBrowser.ObjectPaletteControl.SetNodeImage(TreeListNode node, ITrl trl) at Quest.Toad.DatabaseBrowser.ObjectPaletteControl.CreateTypeNode(TreeListNode parentNode, String type) at Quest.Toad.DatabaseBrowser.ObjectPaletteControl.CreateParentTypes(TreeListNode parentNode, String type) at Quest.Toad.DatabaseBrowser.ObjectPaletteControl.updateContentTimer_Tick(Object sender, EventArgs e) at System.Windows.Forms.Timer.OnTick(EventArgs e) at System.Windows.Forms.Timer.TimerNativeWindow.WndProc(Message& m) at System.Windows.Forms.NativeWindow.Callback(IntPtr hWnd, Int32 msg, IntPtr wparam, IntPtr lparam)
First I thought that as I had old Toad 6.xx, I firstly upgraded it to the newest but I still get the same error.
As host for Toad I have Win7 and MySQLs are running on CentOs, even though I think this is Windows issue.
All the other connection methods are working just fine (SQLYog, MysqlCLI)
I'm not beeing able to open the script editor when creating a new View or editing an old one. On MySQL Workbench a similar problem occuried, but it was only a matter of chosing a default Scheme. On Toad, even chosing a default one, the screen still freezes when trying to open the editor. Does anyone know why it might happen or have seen a similar problem? 64bits / 32bits problem maybe?
Windows 8.1 Pro 64bits
i7 2.2GHz CPU
MySQL Server v5.6.21 X64
Connector/ODBC v5.3.4 X86 and X64
Toad for MySQL Freeware v188.8.131.5250 and v184.108.40.20641 Beta (both didn't work, not even running as administrator)
I have downloaded Taod for MySQL 7.3 and have a problem with the Autocomplete feature.
1. It does not pop up automatically. For example, when I type a table alias followed by a period(.) I would expect that autocomplete shows a list of columns of the table.
2. If I activate the autocomplete popup with CTRL+Period it pops up quickly and disappears right away. I am not able to select anything from it.
Is there a fix for this?
All documentation online is for Toad for DB2 and the menus they talk about are nonexistent in Toad for MYSQL. Why is the most basic command so obtuse to perform?
I had 2 queries in the editor window. I cancelled it 2X as I had the wrong info in my query. I stopped the background process and thought I was terminating the query. I went into the Session Monitor and see those 2 queries in the Query status under the Activity column. My question is, are these 2 queries still running as they are NOT in sleep mode? If they are how can I terminate them?
I have upgraded from 7.2 to 7.3 and was very disappointed with unrevertable UI changes. I've spent about 1 hour trying to make new version look like 7.2 version, recovering my old skin, placing windows in convenient layout etc. I am still unable to place tab toolbars above the tabs. I need only edit toolbar which has "format SQL" button. Having this toolbar below the tabs makes it hard to switch tabs - you need to find it between 2 rows of buttons.
One more thing which is hard to understand for me. How can I see at once database object tabs (with tables for example) from 2 different connections? When I open new Database Explorer it is opened with the tree of all objects at the left side so I have 2 trees at once. Also is I switch between SQL Editor tab from 2 different connections my DB Explorer tab is changed and I cannot. That is so confusing.
Other wishes about DB Explorer window: add refresh button to the toolbar and make is customazable, allow removing filter which just eats space, do not show "+" if there are no items in the list.
In Connection Manager allow removing toolbar - there are no useful buttons as for me. You rarely need to add new connections but switching between them is oftern operation. Switching is
Hi,When I run some big queries (>20MB sql script) Toad throws an out of memory error message. System.OutOfMemoryExceptionException of type 'System.OutOfMemoryException' was thrown.Stack Trace: at System.String.Replace(String oldValue, String newValue) at ActiproSoftware.SyntaxEditor.Document.GetText(LineTerminator lineTerminator) at ActiproSoftware.SyntaxEditor.SyntaxEditor.get_Text() at Quest.Toad.Editor.EditorForm.CheckConnection() at Quest.Toad.Editor.EditorForm.DoExecuteSqlScript() at Quest.Toad.Editor.EditorForm.ExecuteSqlScript()
I'm using Toad for MySQL 220.127.116.112
Could anyone help me about this?
Thanks in advance
In previous version it was not possible to backup all current Toad settings into an external file.
Is this long-awaited feature now possible in the new version 7.3?
I want e.g. to restore these settings in another Toad installation on my notebook.
How can I make the window border smaller/thin and the toolbar icons smaller in the (new) version 7.3?
I set up a SSH tunnel connection following these steps, which works fine, except that TOAD complains about [Authentication method 'mysql_clear_password' not supported by any of the available plugins]I fixed the very same problem with HeidiSQL by putting mysql_clean_password.dll and dialog.dll in a plugin folder, but I can't figure where to put those two dll's in TOAD in order to make it find them. Can anyone help ? Looks like most of the dll are somehow "declared" in *.pck file if it can help.
Thank in advance !
Ok, I admit that its a valuable tool and pretty amazing for what is provided for free. But I'm at a loss trying to grok the twisted logic that seems behind the windowing behavior? Open Toad and double click on a table in object explorer. The table's data is displayed in a window (WIN1).Single click on another table in object explorer. That table's data replaces the previously selected tables data in WIN1. ODD, WHY SHOULD IT BE ASSUMED THAT I WANT TO LOSE WHAT I PREVIOUSLY SELECTED? ESPECIALLY IF I RIGHT CLICK ON THE NEW OBJECT EXPLORER SELECTION.Alt-Z to open new window (WIN2) that contains a duplicate of the data in WIN1 so that clicking around in object explorer does not overwrite the data in WIN1 that I am interested in. Double click in object explorer on another table and its data now overwrites WIN2. MORE STEPS THAN PROBABLY NECESSARY AND NOT VERY INTUITIVE BUT OK, FINE.With WIN2 selected double or single click on new table in object explorer and WTF data in WIN1 is overwritten again. THAT ISN'T THE ONE THAT HAD FOCUS.Is that any way to config Toad to work as follows?
Double click on table in object explorer opens new window only when there are no open non SQL script windows. Otherwise, data overwrites the window tab THAT PRESENTLY HAS FOCUS.
Single click on table in object explorer DOES NOT change what is in active window.
If I have window tabs open on tables when I shutdown and if upon a restart Toad is unable to simply requery (F5) and refresh the data in those tabs, close them automatically. What is the point of having a bunch of empty non functional tabs open? Or, what is the magic to force them to reload the data?
For some reason I cannot to any of MySQL servers using Toad 7.3. I was using Toad 7.0 and I can still connect to all MySQL servers using 7.0 but I cannot using the new Toad 7.3.
Any suggestions? I cannot find an error log or file where I can get some more details. The only error I'm getting is that I cannot make a connection.
Please help! Thanks.
I have just installed 7,3 and have no tools menu. I have checked under customization and there is no menu listed, there is a set of tools icons, shame I cannot use it to do imports of data from csv as 7.2 does. Is this one of the paid for features??
I have re-posted this to try and get the answer posted for others who are still having this issue.System.OutOfMemoryExceptionException of type 'System.OutOfMemoryException' was thrown.Stack Trace:at System.String.Replace(String oldValue, String newValue)at ActiproSoftware.SyntaxEditor.Document.GetText(LineTerminator lineTerminator)at ActiproSoftware.SyntaxEditor.SyntaxEditor.get_Text()at Quest.Toad.Editor.EditorForm.CheckConnection()at Quest.Toad.Editor.EditorForm.DoExecuteSqlScript()at Quest.Toad.Editor.EditorForm.ExecuteSqlScript()
This is the third time now that I have deleted a record mistakenly by hitting my delete key and it updates the changes immediately without me hitting the checkmark. This is very frustrating. Something like deleting a record should ask "are you sure??" Please add this into Toad.
After installer the Toad for MySQL 7.2 show the error message bellow.
Can anybody help-me?
The new stable version of Toad for MySQL 7.3 is now available for immediate download.
Just head over to the download section and get it right now!
And how much does it cost? I downloaded the Freeware version, but cannot for the life of me find where one can go to purchase the full version. Can anyone provide a link please?
