Hello!

I am trying to use RANK() in TOAD SQL editor, it keeps saying there is no RANK function in the test schema I am working on. What I actually want is similar to DENSE_RANK or ANALYTIC rank function for my table... Any help in knowing the syntax, or using RANK function is much appreciated!

I am so thrilled to have found Toad and this forum!!!

First, a disclaimer:  I am a novice at DB administration and everything I know is self taught through forums just like this one.  That learning is out of necessity, but thank God I enjoy a challenge!  My question may be "basic" and I apologize to the experts that may find my inquiry frustratingly simple. I have searched the forum and couldn't find the answer and thus, finally asking for help.

My Experience Level with Toad: maybe 6 hours of use
My DB Admin Skill Level: Novice
Version of Toad: 7.2.0.2922
Toad Feature I am have issues with: Compare Schema
Error being encountered: Select command denied to user 'xxxx'@'yyyyy' for table 'db' Quest.Compare.Schema.MySQL.DBModel
Prior to posting I made sure (using Toad)...

  1. I have successfully connected to each of the DBs for which I am trying to compare the schemas for.
  2. I have been able to successfully run queries against each of the targeted DBs.
  3. I have verified the stored user name and password for each connection.
  4. I have verified that the UID has select authority for each of the DBs.  Actually, the UID has all permissions.
  5. I have verified that remote connection is authorized for the UID on each DB.
  6. I have reviewed the list of tables within each of the target DBs....  neither has a table named 'db'.

I also reviewed the "How to create multi-schema comparison" posted within the forum but that didn't help.  As soon as I execute the compare, Toad returns the stated error.  I suspect this is something truly simple and elementary but I, as I mentioned, I am a novice and would truly appreciate any guidance from anyone willing to point me in the right direction.

Thanks in advance!

I am NEW to TOAD.  I just upgraded my ToadForMySQL client on my Windows 7 box from ToadForMySQL 7.0.0.2038 to ToadForMySQL 7.2.0.2922.  I have 4 databases that I currently connect to.  Of the 4 connection entries that I have in my Connection Manager I can only connect to 3.  When I try to connect to the 4th database using my connection entry I get this error:

MySQL Database Error

Authentication with old password no longer supported, use 4.1 style passwords.

Any suggestions on how to fix this issue would be appreciated.  Nothing has changed regarding permissions or passwords in any of these connections.  A reply would be appreciated ASAP.  Sad

Thank.

When I want to run toad with command line, it opens toad but does not connect to the database (only open editor's window)

Any idea to autorun and connect toad to a specific database?

I am using camera EXIF data which shows hundredths of a second for image SubSecCreateDate to differentiate images shot in burst mode at many rounds/second. TOAD displays the hundredths of a second as thousandths, inserting a leading zero just after the decimal point separating seconds from subseconds.  “.40” seconds is being incorrectly displayed as “.04”

Here is the RAW DATA:

> exiftool.exe -SubSecCreateDate pf-2013.0331-122707.p1c.mammatus.30k.jpg

Create Date                     : 2013:03:31 17:08:36.40

In TOAD, select  tools -> options -> grid -> custom yyyy-MM-dd HH:mm:ss.ff to display hundredths of a second.

The field, “create_date” is declared as a datetime(2) to fit the hundredths of a second provided by the EXIF data. This definition shows up correctly in viewer -> table -> columns -> type

When you select the “create_date”, datetime field, the data grid displays “2013-03-31 14:53:26.04”. The subSecond value shown is 40 thousands. The correct value is 400 thousands.

To test whether the correct value is actually being stored, test it on the command line:

mysql> update zip set create_date='2013-03-31 14:53:26.40' where zid=114827;

Query OK, 1 row affected (0.00 sec)

mysql> select create_date from zip where zid=114827 ;

| create_date            |

| 2013-03-31 14:53:26.40 |

This correctly shows 4 tenths.

When you select the microseconds of the datetime and divide by 1000 to create milliseconds, the correct result is shown as 400. See the attached screen capture.

The GUI is mangling the data, dividing hundredths of  a second by 10 to make it look like milliseconds.

Here is some silly example code to try to demonstrate my issue with collapsing.

CREATE PROCEDURE Test

()

BEGIN

  DECLARE vCondition2 int;

  DECLARE vCondition3 int;

  --region test

  SET vCondition2 = 3;

  WHILE vCondition2 = 3 DO

  IF vCondition3 = 2 THEN

    SET vConditon2 = 1;

  ELSE

    SET vCondition2 = 3;

  END IF;

  END WHILE;

  --end region

END;

If I collapse on the BEGIN, I get:

CREATE PROCEDURE Test

()

BEGIN WHILE;

 --end region

END;

I expected:

CREATE PROCEDURE Test

()

BEGIN;

If I collapse on –region test:

I get:

CREATE PROCEDURE Test

()

BEGIN

  DECLARE vCondition2 int;

  DECLARE vCondition3 int;

  test WHILE;

  --end region

END;

I expected:

CREATE PROCEDURE Test

()

BEGIN

  DECLARE vCondition2 int;

  DECLARE vCondition3 int;

  test

END;

It seems the WHILE is screwing up the collapse logic.  Is there an error in my syntax?  Is there a work around?

I'm working on an automation that will create a report and then email that report to users.  The process works, but I would like to tweak it a bit.

When you automate the running of a report you can select to have the date added on the end of the file name as a suffix, which is nice so you have a report of each day saved instead of overwriting the report each time.  But if you then want to include an Email activity that picks sends the latest created report file - how do you do that?  When you define the FileName in the Attachment Collection - how do yo set a variable for the suffix like you did with the report name?

Report Name = 'Report.PDF'
Suffix = 'yyyy-MM-dd'

So today's report will be named 'Report2010-03-03.pdf'.  Tomorrow's will be ''Report2010-03-04.pdf'.

When I set the file attachment name in the Email activity - how do I grab 'Report2010-03-03.pdf' today and 'Report2010-03-04.pdf' tomorrow?

Thanks

I did a select * from a table with toad and the results were different from the same select command with mysql on the host linux box. I am attaching a screen capture to demonstrate. The select from mysql and from toad were both just seconds apart. check the third line down. in mysql all columns have data but in toad just about all the columns are NULL.

I tested this with toad 7.0 and with toad 7.2 and got the same results.

any help would be appreciated.

I'm having a persistent problem where whenever running any automated script building within Toad for MySQL, it is choosing to export binary data as a hexadecimal literal, which would be fine, but these appear to not be formatted correctly (data comparison for example).

As per http://dev.mysql.com/doc/refman/5.6/en/hexadecimal-literals.html literals must start with "0x", or "X'", neither of which is true.

Upon running the scripts, they will error out on the page with the following error code: http://dev.mysql.com/doc/refman/5.6/en/error-messages-server.html#error_er_bad_field_error

Example:

UPDATE `table1` SET `column1` = 3C703E3C7374726F6E673E43...

Expected:

UPDATE `table1` SET `column1` = 0x3C703E3C7374726F6E673E43...

Disabling Hex literal usage in toad would fix it, or perhaps there is some setup/config that is incorrect? Any help would be appreciated. TIA.

Good evening,

Toad hangs when using "Send to Query Builder" from an editor window.I am using Toad for mySQL 7.0.0.2038. It becomes completely unresponsive. The task manager shows that it is using 5-18% cpu with normal amounts of memory and must be killed through the task manager. Simplier queries can be sent to Query Builder with ease.
