These people make Toad for MySQL great and have the most points for this month!
I am a software engineer who has just started working with msql (and Toad) after a 20 year layoff. I am rusty and confused. I know what rtfm means; however, this is a condrum I have not been able to solve
I run the following insert from a select. The files are essentially flat files, ymtest has a key of username, ram2012 is an import of a spreadsheet by way of excel to access to odbc to mysql. There is no mysql key defined; however, the ID field , which is unique, is carried over from access and it goes from1 to 233 I can run this repeatedly, it says 464 rows affected. phpMYadmin says 464 rows inserted. At best, I can only see how 233 rows could be affected. How do I turn on logging or whatever so that I can track the records being updated, inserted or whatever? Is this a debug process? A select count of the input file gives:
select count(*) from ram2012; gives 233 rows
The select in the insert returns 232 rows.
INSERT INTO ymtest(MemberTypeCode,PrimaryGroupCode,ConstituentID,Registrationdate,DateMembershipExpires,EmployerName,EmployerAddressLines,EmployerCity,EmployerLocation,EmployerPostalCode,EmployerPhoneAreaCode,EmployerPhone,EmployerFaxAreaCode,EmployerFax,Membership,LastName,FirstName,Nickname,ProfessionalTitle,EmailAddress,Username,Password,AnnualE)SELECTymdistinct.MemberTypeCode,ymdistinct.PrimaryGroupCode,ymdistinct.ConstituentID,ymdistinct.Registrationdate,ymdistinct.DateMembershipExpires,ymdistinct.EmployerName,ymdistinct.EmployerAddressLines,ymdistinct.EmployerCity,ymdistinct.EmployerLocation,ymdistinct.EmployerPostalCode,ymdistinct.EmployerPhoneAreaCode,ymdistinct.EmployerPhone,ymdistinct.EmployerFaxAreaCode,ymdistinct.EmployerFax,ymdistinct.Membership,ram2012.`LNAME1`,ram2012.`FNAME1`,ram2012.`FNAME1` as NickName,ram2012.`TITLE1`,ram2012.`E-MAIL`,getUserName(ymdistinct.ConstituentID, FNAME1, LNAME1) AS USERNAME,getUserPasswrd(ymdistinct.ConstituentID, FNAME1, LNAME1) AS PASSWORD,'2' as AnnualEFROM ram2012JOIN YMDistincton ram2012.shortcode = YMDistinct.ConstituentIDWHERE LNAME1 is not nullON DUPLICATE KEY UPDATE ymtest.AnnualE= ymtest.ANNUAlE + '2';
I am using version 184.108.40.2068 of Toad for MySQL and getting reproducible System.NullReferenceException exceptions everytime I try to change the filter in object explorer. Once I get this error the first time, I no longer can use object explorer without getting additional errors. I can exit out and restart Toad and the last filter is in place and I can't change it without getting an error.
I am connecting to MySql version 5.1.39.
I am going back to previous version of Toad until I am confident that I have a fix for this. Please help.
I have recently discovererd toad and I am very impressed so far.I have however one problem: Toad hangs if I open a SQL file while I have an active connection. If I open the SQL file before i open the connection to the database server, it works OK.I spent some time googling about this problem, but have'nt found anything. Does anyone have any suggestions?I am using Toad 220.127.116.112 on Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit.
I just downloaded Toad4mySQL file (ToadforMySQL_Freeware_18.104.22.1688.exe).
I have currently Toad4mySQL vers. 6.3 installed.
After I have launched the install executable, the Wise welcome screen appears.
I confirm with "next" and the installer closes immediately without any messages, no installation.
Is there a ZIP file available to perform a manual install?
I would like to keep the previous version until I can be sure the new version will work on my laptop.
I get an error disconnecting from time to time and when the error occurs it prevents Toad from closing. Once that happens, the only way to close Toad is to go to the Windows Task Manager and end the process. The error message is as follows:
System.ArgumentNullExceptionValue cannot be null.Stack Trace: at System.Threading.Monitor.ReliableEnterTimeout(Object obj, Int32 timeout, Boolean& lockTaken) at Quest.Toad.Debugger.DebugProviderBase.Cancel() at Quest.Toad.Debugger.DebugProviderBase.Dispose(Boolean disp) at Quest.Toad.Debugger.DebugProviderBase.Dispose() at Quest.Toad.Debugger.DebugClient.CloseDebugging(Connection connection) at Quest.Toad.Debugger.DebugClient.ConnectionClosingHandler(Object sender, ConnectionClosingEventArgs e) at Quest.Toad.Notification.NotificationManager.InternalConnectionClosing(Object sender, ConnectionClosingEventArgs args) at Quest.Toad.Notification.NotificationManager.ConnectionClosing(Object sender, Connection connection) at Quest.Toad.Gui.MainForm.OnFormClosing(FormClosingEventArgs e) at System.Windows.Forms.Form.WmClose(Message& m) at System.Windows.Forms.Form.WndProc(Message& m) at DevExpress.XtraEditors.XtraForm.WndProc(Message& msg) at Quest.Toad.Gui.MainForm.WndProc(Message& msg) at System.Windows.Forms.Control.ControlNativeWindow.OnMessage(Message& m) at System.Windows.Forms.Control.ControlNativeWindow.WndProc(Message& m) at System.Windows.Forms.NativeWindow.Callback(IntPtr hWnd, Int32 msg, IntPtr wparam, IntPtr lparam)
TOAD for MySQL 22.214.171.1244 cannot display fractional data that is saved in DATETIME(6) or TIMESTAMP(6) columns or any data/time function using the new "(6)" that indicates fractional seconds. It will, however, allow definition of the column:
Example query form the mysql CLI client:
mysql> select sysdate();+---------------------+| sysdate() |+---------------------+| 2013-06-14 17:39:35 |+---------------------+1 row in set (0.00 sec)mysql> select sysdate(6);+----------------------------+| sysdate(6) |+----------------------------+| 2013-06-14 17:40:04.838347 |+----------------------------+1 row in set (0.00 sec)
But try running the "SELECT SYSDATE(6)" from a TOAD for MySQL editor window ... we get a Java stack trace:
Input string was not in a correct format.Stack Trace: at System.Number.StringToNumber(String str, NumberStyles options, NumberBuffer& number, NumberFormatInfo info, Boolean parseDecimal) at System.Number.ParseInt32(String s, NumberStyles style, NumberFormatInfo info) at MySql.Data.Types.MySqlDateTime.ParseMySql(String s) at MySql.Data.Types.MySqlDateTime.MySql.Data.Types.IMySqlValue.ReadValue(MySqlPacket packet, Int64 length, Boolean nullVal) at MySql.Data.MySqlClient.NativeDriver.ReadColumnValue(Int32 index, MySqlField field, IMySqlValue valObject) at MySql.Data.MySqlClient.ResultSet.ReadColumnData(Boolean outputParms) at MySql.Data.MySqlClient.ResultSet.NextRow(CommandBehavior behavior) at MySql.Data.MySqlClient.MySqlDataReader.Read() at Quest.Toad.Db.ToadDataAdapter.InternalReadBackground()
This really limits our ability to develop, test and debug tables that use DATETIME(6), and TIMESTAMP(6) columns that contain fractions second values. Can someone please look into this?
I've just installed Toad for MySQL 126.96.36.1995. When I try to compare two schemas ("Tools-> Compare-> Schema compare" or "Schema compare-> New compare") I can't get past the "Register My SQL Databases" dialogue:---------------------------Error---------------------------SELECT command denied to user 'my_user'@'my_local_pc' for table 'db'Quest.Compare.Schema.MySQL.DBModel
---------------------------Aceptar ---------------------------`my_user` is the actual MySQL user and `my_local_pc` is the name of my computer but there isn't any table called `db` in any of the two databases.This is the same error I was getting on 4.6. I've browsed the help but I cannot find any reference to it. Any clue?
THere has been some time since I last time connected to my few MySQL DBs via Toad, and today when I tried to connect I got the following error:

First I thought that as I had old Toad 6.xx, I firstly upgraded it to the newest but I still get the same error.
As host for Toad I have Win7 and MySQLs are running on CentOs, even though I think this is Windows issue.
All the other connection methods are working just fine (SQLYog, MysqlCLI)
Is there a setting in Toad for MySQL to set it to ask before deleting a record? I was meaning to delete an email and hit the delete key on my keyboard but had the Toad window active and accidentally deleted a record in our database. Now I have to go through a lot of work to add that row back in.
I am currently trying to integrate Linux services into my Windows environment and have installed MariaDB with PAM authentication following the guidance from MariaDB.
I have tested successfully on the box (using putty) that I can authenticate using my AD credentials, however when I try to login via Toad I get the following error:
Client does not support authentication protocol requested by server; consider upgrading MariaDB client
I have tried adding the line pam-use-cleartext-plugin to the conf file and restarting the server but no joy. I have downloaded HeidiSQL and confirmed that its use of libmysql.dll means that it can use the PAM authentication. It looks like toad for MySQL utilises myodbc.dll - any ideas how to work around this? I love toad and would much rather be able to use it
I would to know if it is possible to start toad for mysql with a command line for example "toad.exe username/password@dbserver "
thanks in advance
I was able to install toad for mysql on linux (Kubuntu 13.10).
It starts and I can connect to a database. Unfortunately whene toad try to draw a grid I obtain an exception.
So fa I was not able to solve it and I don't find any good reference online.

New to Toad and have a very basic question. Trying to save a pivot table in terms of the data items/columns/rows and have followed http://dev.toadformysql.com/webhelp/Content/Reporting/Pivot_Grids/Pivot_Grid.htm and clicked "save" after designing and when calling up the .tsm all the data items/columns/rows need to be redefined . How do you save a pivot table?

Hello toad world, I'm new.
In my toad for mysql version (188.8.131.525), I didn't success to create a simple dump. I got a lot of cvs files.
I guess I'm blind.
Can you help me show the "path"...?
MySQL supports the following: LOAD DATA INFILE file REPLACE INTO.... but the Toad Import Wizard complains if it finds existing records and aborts. Is there an option to tell Toad to replace existing records?.
