I am NEW to TOAD.  I just upgraded my ToadForMySQL client on my Windows 7 box from ToadForMySQL 7.0.0.2038 to ToadForMySQL 7.2.0.2922.  I have 4 databases that I currently connect to.  Of the 4 connection entries that I have in my Connection Manager I can only connect to 3.  When I try to connect to the 4th database using my connection entry I get this error:

MySQL Database Error

Authentication with old password no longer supported, use 4.1 style passwords.

Any suggestions on how to fix this issue would be appreciated.  Nothing has changed regarding permissions or passwords in any of these connections.  A reply would be appreciated ASAP.  Sad

Thank.

This just started happening within the past few days.

When I start Toad freeware, I am receiving a message indicating that there is a new freeware version - 7.2.0.2922, and gives me three options:

1) Launch the installer now. When I choose this option I see the progress bar but the installer never launches,

2) Download and execute later. When I choose this option after waiting several minutes, the file is not a zip file, but a temp file and it seems that no matter how long I wait, the file is not able to be unzipped and run.

3) Remind me <option> but what's the point if 1 and 2 above don't work.

Help appreciated.

Regards,  - Jim P.

I am trying to connect to "Server version: 5.0.51a-community-log MySQL Community Edition (GPL)" and "Server version: 5.5.28 MySQL Community Server (GPL)". I am getting "single execution returned more than 0 result sets" message in the objects explorer under tables and procedures tab. Views tab look ok. I also cannot run any querys. I uninstalled toad and cleaned the registry setting that had myqsl/toad entry and re-installed and still getting the message. Currently I am using work bench, sql developer and command line. I don't like any of them. Any one has any info on how to troubleshoot this?

Hey there.

I've found a bug (?) in Toad for MySQL 4.6.0.531 and 7.0.0.2038:  Manual submit auto submits when statement is executed again.

Steps to reproduce:

1. Select "Manually submit row changes as batch" in "Tools->Options->Environment->Grid->Submitting Changes to the Database".

2. SELECT * FROM any.table; -> Change a value but do not submit the change

3. Re-execute SELECT * FROM any.table; (in the same editor)

4. Now the previous change to the value has been submitted without hitting the "Submit" button at the bottom the grid.

Hope you can fix this behaviour. Thanks!

Best regards.

Pascal

I have installed Toad For MYSQL 7.0.0.2038 and I am experiencing a problem with SQL formatting

Toad puts all my SQL into one line.

When I open a VIEW and go to the Script tab my SQL appears as in the sample below.

CREATE VIEW  `database`.`table_v` AS select `field`.`id` AS `id`,`field`.`user_id` AS `user_id`,`ua`.`display_name` AS `display_name`,`field`.`user_type_id` AS `user_type_id`,`uta`.`name` AS `user_type`,`field`.`source_id` AS `source_id`,`tst`.`name` AS `source`,`field`.`author_id` AS `author_id`,(case when (`field`.`user_type_id` = 1) then `ua`.`display_name` when (`field`.`user_type_id` = 2) then `taa`.`name` else `ua`.`display_name` end) AS 'author'

When I use Notepad or NaviCat my SQL appears as

CREATE VIEW table_v AS

SELECT

field.id,
field.user_id,
ua.display_name,
field.user_type_id,
uta.name AS user_type,
field.source_id,
tst.name AS source,
field.author_id,

CASE
      WHEN field.user_type_id = 1
      THEN ua.display_name
      WHEN field.user_type_id = 2
      THEN taa.name
      ELSE ua.display_name
END AS author,

Toad has managed to convert SELECT, CASE, WHEN, THEN, ELSE and END to lower case. It has also added '' around object names and added AS

I would like Toad to display the SQL as it appears in Navicat and notepad. I have altered Editor settings to no avail.

Can anybody shed any light on How to do this?

Many thanks,

Bill

Trying to connect to remote webserver A and get either mysql error that can't authorize or SSH auth error.

I have two other remote webservers setup for mysql and SSH auth - those work fine.

I can use the same combo of fields in bitvise and other programs to log into webserver A without any problems - but when I try it in Toad, it won't work.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

The MySQL ROW_COUNT() function always returns when executed from within Toad editor window.  The row_count() function will return the number of rows affected by the prededing update or insert operation. ROW_COUNT() works fine from within the MySQL command-line client, "mysql," and from within stored procedures and functions. But it always returns zero (0) when called from the Toad editor for any SQL whether it update, insert, delete, etc. Refer to the manual https://dev.mysql.com/doc/refman/5.6/en/information-functions.html#function_row-count for its official behavior.

Error with ZEROFILL on AUTOINCREMENT Column

Hi.  First post!  Thanks for the software.  Much better looking and user friendly UI than others I've tried.

QUESTION

Is it possible to ZEROFILL an AUTOINCREMENT column?

AIM

For data entry directly in Toad, I would ideally like values in the id column to appear padded with zeros to 4 places (eg 0001, 0002 etc).

I understand that ZEROFILL is the way to do this, in conjunction with the length parameter (stated in parentheses after INT).

The column in question is the table's surrogate primary key.

The database is an InnoDB development database.

APPROACH

I'm using Toad for MySQL's "Alter Tables" form, "Columns" tab to alter the existing id column.

The properties I selected in the form are listed in a table below.

(I tried to insert the table here, but text that should appear beneath it was displayed beside it, probably due to HTML floats and block elements versus inline elements.)

Toad for MySQL generates SQL from the settings on the form.

This is the query it generated (attempt 1):

ALTER TABLE database.table
 CHANGE col_id col_id INT(4) AUTO_INCREMENT
 ZEROFILL NOT NULL;

When I also tried explicity requesting an unsigned integer, Toad produced this query (attempt 2):

ALTER TABLE database.table
 CHANGE col_id col_id INT(4) UNSIGNED AUTO_INCREMENT
 ZEROFILL NOT NULL;

Incidentally, it was generated exactly as shown, including the line breaks etc.

ERROR

When I click OK (with either set of settings), I receive the following error:

"You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near 'ZEROFILL NOT NULL' at line 2"

So I have to cancel the operation.

TROUBLESHOOTING

  • Are zerofills allowed on an autoincrement column?  If not, it would be handy if Toad's form indicated that.
  • Is the autogenerated whitespace ok?
  • Is the autogenerated SQL syntax correct?
Are the keywords in the right sequence?
The syntax / sequence that the person who wrote this code [ http://pastebin.com/15WsFpww ] used was:
    col_id INT(4) ZEROFILL NOT NULL AUTO_INCREMENT;
    as opposed to:
    col_id INT(4) AUTO_INCREMENT ZEROFILL NOT NULL;
  • Is it significant that the autogenerated SQL does not mention that the column is the primary key, despite it being stated on the "General" tab of Toad's alter table form.

ASIDE

Is ZEROFILL particular to Toad?  I don't see it mentioned in the official MySQL documentation.

THANKS

Thanks in advance.

I've created an automation script using Toad for MySQL to update some tables in MySQL.  The script works fine when I execute it manually within Toad.  I then created a Windows Task Schedule to run the task each morning at 8:00am and then every two hours until 8:00pm.  The first time the task runs each morning, Toad fails to completely start up and execute the script.  The script log hasn't been updated since the previous day.  In windows Task Manager, I see the toad.exe *32 task but it's not doing anything and is only 500k in size.  When I run the script manually within Toad, the process is about 50MB in Task Manager.  The Task Schedule History just shows

  • Task triggered on scheduler
  • Task Engine received message to start task
  • Task Started
  • Action Started
  • Created Task Process

and that's it.  Nothing ever happens within Toad, according to the script log not getting updated.

If I then kill the toad.exe *32 process in Task Manager, two more events appear in the Task Scheduler history

  • Action completed
  • Task completed

but that actual script hasn't run - no updates in the database.

Now the really strange part - since the schedule runs every two hours, when it kicks off again throughout the day, it runs just fine.  This happens every morning.  Can you think of a reason why the first time Toad launches in a schedule, it doesn't fully launch, but does every successive time?

I have downloaded the latest version (7.0.0.2038) of Toad for MySQL and when I try and compare 2 database schemes there all of the Procedures and Functions show as different, the tables and views work as expected, showing various difference in some of the tables that truly are different.

When there is a difference in a table, the lines at variance are highlighted.

With the procedures, even though it is flagged as different, none of the lines are mark.

I have also noticed that the scroll lock between the two windows does not hold.

The this case the databases are on two different machines, but both are Ubuntu with MySQL 5.5.

NB: I have looked at all of the compare options under tools and can't see anything there that will help (possible white space issues?)
