These people make Toad for MySQL great and have the most points for this month!
I searched the forum and could not find an answer so I am posting a question here. I hope this is not a duplicate question.
I use Toad for MySQL as a major importing tool for the data stored in CSV and Excel files (.XLS, .XLSX). Sometimes, I only want to create tables from the data not populating any rows so that I can take a look at the structure of the table beforehand and make necessary changes in the data type of columns. By doing this way, I can prevent the import error for big files. How can I do this?
The method I am using now is that I import the data until I got the import error (mostly caused by wrong data type assignment of Toad) and click 'No' to proceed the import process ignoring some rows and change the modification later after the import process is finished. This is not very efficient and sometimes time consuming.
Thanks in advance.
I have a query
select artist from library
where artist like '%Feat.%';
It is returning an error -
"You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MuSQL server version for the right syntax to use near 'where artist like '%Feat.%'' at line 1.
I don't understand what's wrong.
I have recently discovererd toad and I am very impressed so far.I have however one problem: Toad hangs if I open a SQL file while I have an active connection. If I open the SQL file before i open the connection to the database server, it works OK.I spent some time googling about this problem, but have'nt found anything. Does anyone have any suggestions?I am using Toad 188.8.131.522 on Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit.
I have the error below when starting for the first time the interface after installation.
Can some one help me with this please ?

After 2+ years of working correctly, the cut function no longer removes text when I use it. The contents are copied to the clipboard, but the text remains in the editor. This is for ctrl+X as well as using the cut option from the edit menu. I was on 6.3, but moved to 7.5 today and it has the same behavior which makes me wonder if it's a problem with Windows clipboard. I'm on Windows 10, but had the issue on Windows 7. Cut works fine in other applications. Anyone ran into this?
Also, the copy/cut functions are generally slow (~3-5 second) and I often get these clipboard errors in Toad:
System.Runtime.InteropServices.ExternalExceptionRequested Clipboard operation did not succeed.Stack Trace: at System.Windows.Forms.Clipboard.ThrowIfFailed(Int32 hr) at System.Windows.Forms.Clipboard.SetDataObject(Object data, Boolean copy, Int32 retryTimes, Int32 retryDelay) at Quest.Toad.Util.Global.CopyToClipboard(String textData)

I recall someone mentioning that Toad does 2 passes of the text due to formatting. Any tricks to make this run faster/better?
I have downloaded Taod for MySQL 7.3 and have a problem with the Autocomplete feature.
1. It does not pop up automatically. For example, when I type a table alias followed by a period(.) I would expect that autocomplete shows a list of columns of the table.
2. If I activate the autocomplete popup with CTRL+Period it pops up quickly and disappears right away. I am not able to select anything from it.
Is there a fix for this?
trying to add milliseconds to an existing table. The column TradeUTC is currently DATETIME.
ALTER TABLE `tempTrades` MODIFY `TradeUTC` DATETIME(3);
I get an error at the "("
With Toad for MySQL 7.3 I am now unable to connect to a DB (ssh) which I was able to connect to with the 7.2 version and no details have changed. I keep getting the following error:
"Attempted to read past the end of the stream".
Can someone please help to resolve this issue
Here is some silly example code to try to demonstrate my issue with collapsing.
CREATE PROCEDURE Test
DECLARE vCondition2 int;
DECLARE vCondition3 int;
SET vCondition2 = 3;
WHILE vCondition2 = 3 DO
IF vCondition3 = 2 THEN
SET vConditon2 = 1;
SET vCondition2 = 3;
If I collapse on the BEGIN, I get:
If I collapse on –region test:
It seems the WHILE is screwing up the collapse logic. Is there an error in my syntax? Is there a work around?
Product: Toad for MySQL Freeware v184.108.40.2066 (2015-4-23 at 2:53pm)Operating system: Windows 7 (64-bit)
I just now installed Toad on my 4TB harddrive, which currently has 2.59 TB of free space, but the installer displayed the following prompt, telling me that I needed to free up an additional 1.5 TB:
This is probably just a case of integer overflow (since Toad is probably a 32-bit program). I clicked "Ignore" and continued to successfully install the program, as far as I can tell so far.
A new beta for Toad for MySQL has been posted and is now available for immediate download. Just head over to the download section and get it right now!
This build also reintroduce the ability to connect to databases that use old style 4.1 version passwords again.
Is there not a way to stay logged in to this forum? I find that when I start up MySQL I have to log in after a couple of days or so. Also, it seems that the login page doesn't 'remember me' even when I check the box.
It's a little thing I know, but annoying all the same.
I have a set of reports that I would like to automate import actions for.
These files are all xlsx and will be formatted the exact same way each month.
I have created an import wizard to import these records into the correct database.
Is there a method that I can either:
-Use a script (batch?) to call the import wizard / automation script to run? -Have the automation script monitor a specific folder so that any file that meets "criteria *.xlsx" is imported using this wizard?
I have been away from my install of Toad for Mysql for about 6 months. The install was working just fine previously.
I am running Win8 and using Toad 220.127.116.1190 and my 5.5.24 Mysql database. I have WAMP installed and PhpMyAdmin.
The Mysql system seems to be working fine as it operates on localhost just as it always did.I have not installed
anything new regarding Mysql that i know of.
However now when I attempt to start Toad I receive the following errors"
System.Net.Sockets.SocketExceptionThe system detected an invalid pointer address in attempting to use a pointer argument in a callStack Trace: at System.Net.Sockets.Socket.GetSocketOption(SocketOptionLevel optionLevel, SocketOptionName optionName) at System.Net.Sockets.NetworkStream.get_ReadTimeout() at MySql.Data.MySqlClient.TimedStream..ctor(Stream baseStream) at MySql.Data.MySqlClient.MySqlStream..ctor(Stream baseStream, Encoding encoding, Boolean compress) at MySql.Data.MySqlClient.NativeDriver.Open() at MySql.Data.MySqlClient.Driver.Open() at MySql.Data.MySqlClient.Driver.Create(MySqlConnectionStringBuilder settings) at MySql.Data.MySqlClient.MySqlConnection.Open() at Quest.Toad.MySQL.MySQLConnection.OpenInitialTestConnection() at Quest.Toad.MySQL.MySQLConnection.DoBeforeConnect() at Quest.Toad.Db.Connection.Connect(Boolean notify) at Quest.Toad.Db.Provider.BackgroundConnector.CreateBackgroundConnection()
What do I do to be able to connect again? I'm stumped.
After a period of inactivity toad seems to disable the connection. I am fairly positive that this is a problem with Toad and not the server as workbench never disconnects.
Can anyone help me stop this from happening? I am using the most recent version.
Whenever i run a query that returns a date field, toad always adds a time of '00:00:00' to the date. Even though the field is specified as a date and NOT a datetime in the database.
Please tell me that this can be turned off?
I would like to set my session character set each time I connect to an instance.
here is my situation...our MySql instance is using the default character set ..latin1. My database and all tables are defined using character set utf8. via
ALTER DATABASE db_name DEFAULT CHARACTER SET utf8 COLLATE utf8_general_ci;
Any modifications that I make to existing tables that involve character datatypes are defaulting to latin1 !
If I change my session character set to utf8, then my mods use utf8.
Is there a way to automatically set my session character_set each time I connect ?
set session character_set_server=utf8;SET NAMES 'utf8'
thanks in advance for any suggestions.
