The better a problem is described, the better the assistance tends to be.

In order to better assist with your issue at hand, please include the following information in your initial post:

-          Product, Version, and relevant environment details.

-          Include a screenshot of the problem

-          Describe the problem fully. What result was expected?

-          Can the issue be created on demand or is it intermittent?

-          If the problem can be generated faithfully, what are the exact steps to recreate the problem?

-          Any other pertinent information (see below)

Create Support Bundles

You can create a support bundle and send it to Dell Support or to the Toad for IBM DB2 community Web site (peer-to-peer support). The support bundle provides information (about your application and the database) that is used to help troubleshoot problems.

Select Help | Support Bundle. It may take time for Toad to generate the support bundle depending on your system configuration.

Create Support Bundle for a SQL Query Issue

If your issue is a SQL query issue, it is helpful if additional log files are included in the support bundle. These log files are automatically included if you generate a support bundle immediately after executing the query in either the Editor or Query Builder.

To create a support bundle for a SQL query issue

1. In the Editor or Query Builder, reproduce the error or issue.

2. After reproducing the error, immediately select Help | Support Bundle to generate a support bundle.

3. Toad asks if you want to log the row count for each table used in the query. If you select Yes, Toad determines the size of each table used in the query. This adds additional time to the generation process, but also provides additional information about your issue.

 4. When Toad is finished generating the support bundle attach log.

Note: For best results, always send the entire support bundle. This provides Support with the most information about your issue and aids the troubleshooting process.

*Note: Please refrain from including private data in your posts

Be as thorough as you can with the provided info. We will reply to you as quick as possible. We are glad to assist you

Hello,

I have just upgraded to 6.5 and I am getting a problem which I didn't get in 6.1.

When I put statements such as :

  DECLARE v_current INT DEFAULT 0;

in to the editor I get the "red star" syntax error highlight, see below

However, if I remove the semi colon from the first line, the second line no longer errors:

I'm sure this is a configuration issue, but I can't see which option to change to fix this problem.

Look forward to hearing from you.

Many thanks,

Bob.

Hi,

I apologize if I am double posting regarding the issue, I tried to search for the same topic and never found one. Anyway, I just upgraded my Toad freeware from 6.2 to 6.3.0.269 64-bit and one thing I noticed is that the Excel option in the Export wizard is missing. Is there a workaround or fix that is going to come soon?

If it helps, my OS is Win 10 Pro 64-bit.

Here is the image below:

Thanks,

Dear All,

I'm a SQL Server guy but we do have a system that uses DB2. As per the subject above, I can easily do this in Transact-SQL.But in DB2 SQL, I am having some difficulty.

So, looking ar the SQL below, this works fine:

SELECT d - DAYOFYEAR(d) DAYS + ((QUARTER(d) - 1) * 3) MONTHS - 3 MONTHS + 1 DAY
FROM (VALUES DATE('2017-04-21')) as D (d)

But once, I wrap in common table expression (that's what they are called in Transact-SQL) and I do a SELECT, I get no joy.

WITH StarDate

(

SELECT d - DAYOFYEAR(d) DAYS + ((QUARTER(d) - 1) * 3) MONTHS - 3 MONTHS + 1 DAY
FROM (VALUES DATE('2017-04-21')) as D(d)

)

SELECT  *  FROM StarDate  -- This doesn't work!

Any ideas, please?

Regards.

HI.

I'm doing a migration from mysql to db2, but i can't do a constraint in the table EVENTS:

CONSTRAINT `fk_EVENTS_CLIENT_SCHEDULES1` FOREIGN KEY (`schedule_name`, `chg_time`) REFERENCES `client_schedules` (`schedule_name`, `chg_time`) ON DELETE NO ACTION ON UPDATE NO ACTION,

db2 "ALTER TABLE events
ADD CONSTRAINT fk_EVENTS_CLIENT_SCHEDULES1 FOREIGN KEY (schedule_name, chg_time) REFERENCES client_schedules (schedule_name, chg_time) ON DELETE NO ACTION ON UPDATE NO ACTION"

the problem is that the table client_schedules have the next primary key:

PRIMARY KEY (`schedule_name`,`chg_time`,`node_name`),

I can put node_name in the constraint but the problem is that I only want this relacion :

fk_EVENTS_CLIENT_SCHEDULES1 FOREIGN KEY (schedule_name, chg_time) REFERENCES client_schedules (schedule_name, chg_time)

with only this two colummns like in Mysql

here the output:

[db2inst1@ITSTSMR01 ~]$ db2 "ALTER TABLE  events
>       ADD CONSTRAINT fk_EVENTS_CLIENT_SCHEDULES1 FOREIGN KEY (schedule_name, chg_time) REFERENCES client_schedules (schedule_name, chg_time) ON DELETE NO ACTION ON UPDATE NO ACTION"
DB21034E  The command was processed as an SQL statement because it was not a
valid Command Line Processor command.  During SQL processing it returned:
SQL0573N  A column list specified in the references clause of constraint
"FK_EVENTS_CLIENT_SCHEDULES1" does not identify a unique constraint of the
parent table or nickname "DB2INST1.CLIENT_SCHEDULES".  SQLSTATE=42890

I'm aware that DB2 does not allow joins in update queries; it requires correlated subqueries. That makes writing update queries a bit more complex.

Is there any way to use Query Builder to write these update queries?

1.  You can't add a subquery to an update query in Query Builder

2.  If I create my own subquery first, I don't see a way in Query Builder of using the result of the subquery to update anything in the top level of the query.

Is this functionality not built into Query Builder?  What kind of update queries can it model?

Thanks in advance

Hello,

I use to be able to cancel my query in Toad before I am now noticing it's not working like it use.  I am not sure if this is a TOAD issue or a Db2 z/OS issue.  I know I can't cancel threads on z/OS, but Toad was always good about canceling my query  after the warning of records being pulled back.

If I run a query that takes a long time I get the following message:

I would then say Yes.But now it seems like my query has canceled but i can't run any other queries unless I force close out of Toad via task manager.

I never had this issue before 6.3, but I am not sure like I said if its related to 6.3 or some change on the RDBMS.

Thanks for your help.

Hi,

I spent almost three hours building an automation script to find that it got corrupted. When I tried to open the script I got a notice that this script was created with a previous version ( which it wasn't) and asked if I want to convert it to 6.3. When answering yes, I got an empty script.

I had no choice but to start over. As I did I checked every few steps if it was still valid and found the cause for the corruption.

As this script was similar to another one I am using, I copied some nodes from the original one. Although the original one was created in a previous version, it was works well in version 6.3. Copying the nodes to a new automation script somehow caused the corruption.

The nodes I had were setVariable and save select to Editor with Results.

If necssary, I'll try to upload the relevent files.

Sincerely,

Shimon J.
