Best Practices for
Benchmark Factory®
for Databases

Whether you're a DBA or developer, you must ensure that your databases and applications meet performance SLAs. This technical brief offers best practices for choosing the right testing methodology - including workload replay and industry standard benchmarks - using Benchmark Factory for Databases.

Benchmark Factory® for Databases
Stress Test Your Environment

Benchmark Factory for Databases is a workload replay and scalability testing tool that stress tests your environment by replaying actual database activity or simulating users and transactions on the database.

With Benchmark Factory, you can:

  • Reduce the impact on end users and prevent unnecessary downtime by replaying production workload or simulating development environments
  • Validate the performance of database applications by testing different user scenarios prior to deployment
  • Meet SLAs by testing database applications for scalability
  • Minimize the risk of database upgrades, migration and platform changes by simulating production workload in test environments and identifying database breaking points
Benchmark Factory is available for Oracle, SQL Server, DB2, Sybase, MySQL and other databases via ODBC connectivity.

With the release of version 6.0, Benchmark Factory now offers:

  • TCP-E Industry Standard Benchmark Testing: TPC-E gives you a more realistic simulation of what your OLTP environments look like and how your systems will behave under testing
