A Benchmark Factory Tech Brief, by Quest Solution Architect Manager, Amit Parikh:

This tech brief explains how I created and executed a load scenario using the BF Scripting Wizard. The load scenario is comprised of one database power user which needs to generate a report for their constituents. The user will populate a temp table with the data that is needed and then subsequently run a query against that temp table to retrieve the data they for the report. The goal wa to execute this user with concurrent load by increasing the number of virtual users executing this transaction so that I could identify any degradation that occurred using the “Run Reports” found in Benchmark Factory.

Using Toad and Quest Code Tester for Quick Data Analysis

Have you ever been on in a compliance effort, where things were a little frantic? Although it’s nice when projects are organized, deliverables are clear, and everybody’s moving nicely to schedule, sometimes it doesn’t work that way.

The key to surviving audit analysis is knowing how to transform your data, and the key to transforming your data, is knowing how to use Toad to write transformation procedures, and Quest Code Tester to test them. For instance, you may have a segregation of duties control, that states that people receiving payments shouldn’t be the ones applying them to the open accounts receivable balance. If you have a cleanly organized database, then you have no problem. How many databases have you seen like this? More than likely, you have a simplicity-challenged database, that’s not organized for auditing. A simple SQL statement won’t do, so you’ll need to build a transformation.

In this technical brief, compliance expert, John Weathington, will show you how to build a transformation, using Quest Code Tester, Toad, and Test Driven Design (TDD), a method popularized by the agile community.

Create and Populate a New Oracle Temporary Table
Submitted By: SteveHilker

A Toad tech brief by Quest SC, Michael Lumbard:

At times there is a need to create a new temporary table and populate that table with a subset of data based on the projects that we are working on. For our example we will be working with the Ohio Water Project (OW) Objects. The data on this project is very large and will continue to expand in our Oracle database. Due to this we want to get a very limited amount of data into our temporary table for doing some development and testing task.
