How to setup and use Toad in a secure DB environment
A Toad® for Oracle Tech Brief, by Bert Scalzo

Toad can very easily be configured to work within whatever security practices your company chooses to implement. Although, Toad, by itself, cannot -- and should not -- be your only means of database security, Toad offers a plethora of user options – some of which are very clearly security-related. However, the individual users must set most of the options, and therefore Toad user education and training is paramount to success – with ongoing monitoring for compliance. With minimal DBA set up and user effort, Toad can function well within even the most secure database environments. This technical brief outlines 10 easy-to-implement recommendations that have proven quite effective in safeguarding databases.

Database security threats fall into two categories: external and internal. This technical brief will focus on the latter category as it relates to Toad users.
