Execute Oracle Statements in External Applications

In Toad for Data Analysis, it is possible to execute your statements in an external application.  This functionality is limited to working within Oracle connections.  By default, Toad for Data Analysis is configured to execute them in SQL Plus, but you can change this behavior.  The first thing you should do is verify the settings for the external application.

To do this, select the Tools menu drop down and then select Options.  Navigate to Database -> Oracle and verify the settings in the External Application edit boxes.  Once these are configured, you're ready for the next step.

Open the Editor and enter the statement  you wish to execute (or you can simply load a previously saved statement).  From the Editor menu, select Execute SQL script in External App and viola!  Your script is now running the application you specified in the options.
