Did you know that Spotlights’ Memory Management Tuning can help you improve Oracle response time performance across the board, even if you are using AMM (Automatic Memory Management) in Oracle 11G?   Select the “tuning fork” icon in the Spotlight toolbar to see your memory allocation history and the associated overall instance response time.  Then select the “Memory Management” tab for detailed trade-off analysis of memory allocation to instance response time for all components of Oracle memory.

Even if you use AMM to automatically allocate memory, Spotlight will give you advice on appropriate minimum levels to set for each memory component to make sure the “automatic” allocation doesn’t actually make things worse.  Spotlight also generates the DDL needed to make the suggested changes.
