Quest is exploring whether to and how best to add support for Oracle Application Express in Toad for Oracle.
More and more Oracle technologists are building websites in APEX technology. It is moving rapidly from the sidelines of departmental applications to the mainstream of robust, public and private websites implementing mission critical applications involving many users. For example, my PL/SQL Challenge website, offering daily, weekly and monthly quizzes on Oracle technology, is built on APEX.
Hundreds of thousands of these same technologists also spend lots of their time in Toad for Oracle, building out the backend elements (tables, packages, etc.). We at Quest Software believe that Toad for Oracle should be able to help APEX developers understand, analyze, maintain and even enhance their applications from.
We also, realize, however, that there is an enormous range and depth of experience with APEX "out there." So rather than just come up with a list of features we think would be helpful to APEX developers, we'd like to hear from you, the APEX developer and also development DBAs supporting APEX developers, about how you think Toad for Oracle can best support your work with APEX.
You can do so by responding to this blog post. You can also email me directly at steven.feuerstein@quest.com. I will be compiling requests and requirements for consideration by the Toad for Oracle Product Manager and development team.

Re: APEX Support in Toad
I have shared this request to my development community within my company via our corporate social network. This is encouraging news to say the least.
I don't get the opportunity to use APEX in my day to day routine, but have taken opportunities to explore it. One obvious feature would be some type of test launch facility for launch pages that have been designed. I would equate this with the anonymous plsql block execution feature with the existing TOAD when right clicking on the Function or Procedure.

Re: APEX Support in Toad
It would be outstanding if you could add APEX Processes, APEX Conditions, and APEX Computations to the Search Source options in the Object Search tool. Determining the potential impact of table/package changes can really slow down my work. Warn if no apex schema is selected in conjunction with these source searches.
Exposing that code (processes, conditions, computations) for viewing and editing outside of the application builder could be nice too, though it may encourage developers to put too much logic directly into APEX.
This may be over the top, but an APEX Export utility that encloses code blocks in q'{ style quoting would be great too. The exports can be very challenging to read, and something more human readable would be a real boon for people wanting to combine APEX development with outside version control. This would also be useful for exports of dynamic sql blocks, which can get ugly very quickly.
