Before installing Toad for Oracle, ensure your system meets the following minimum hardware and software requirements:

Hardware

  • 75 MB disk space required to run Toad
  • 512 MB RAM required, 1 GB recommended
  • CD-ROM drive or internet connection (needed for install only)
  • VGA monitor, 1024x768 resolution, small fonts
  •
  • Mouse pointing device

Software

  • Client - Windows 2000/XP/2003/Vista (64-bit support for Windows 2003/XP/Vista with 32-bit Oracle Client)
  • Oracle SQL Net, Net 8 (32-bit only) Net 9, Net 10, Net 11 or Instant Client
  • Server - Oracle versions 7.3.4; 8.0.6; 8.1.7; 9i; 9iR2; 10gR1; 10gR2; 11g

I am trying to set up Toad for Oracle in a 64 bit environment. I've also installed 32 bit client but I can't seem to get toad to connect. Any advise would be appreciated.

Hi DixieHill
I have the same problem:
-Oracle client 64bits.
-Toad 9.7
-Windows 7 64bits.

Toad can't "see" the connection to the server. But the TNSPING <name> works fine!
Any suggestion???
