Running Toad for Oracle in a 64 bit environment. It's Easier than you think!
System Requirements
Before installing Toad for Oracle, ensure your system meets the following minimum hardware and software requirements:
Hardware
- 75 MB disk space required to run Toad
- 512 MB RAM required, 1 GB recommended
- CD-ROM drive or internet connection (needed for install only)
- VGA monitor, 1024x768 resolution, small fonts

Mouse pointing device
Software
- Client - Windows 2000/XP/2003/Vista (64-bit support for Windows 2003/XP/Vista with 32-bit Oracle Client)
- Oracle SQL Net, Net 8 (32-bit only) Net 9, Net 10, Net 11 or Instant Client
- Server - Oracle versions 7.3.4; 8.0.6; 8.1.7; 9i; 9iR2; 10gR1; 10gR2; 11g
Once you have verified that your system meets the requirements listed above, paying special attention to the need for the 32 bit Oracle client, Toad for Oracle should work in your environment with out any issues.

I am trying to set up Toad for Oracle in a 64 bit environment. I've also installed 32 bit client but I can't seem to get toad to connect. Any advise would be appreciated.

Hi DixieHill I have the same problem: -Oracle client 64bits. -Toad 9.7 -Windows 7 64bits.
Toad can't "see" the connection to the server. But the TNSPING <name> works fine! Any suggestion??? |
